Home Stretch!

So much has been going on I really have no clue where to start!

As a project we went to this fun place called Seaside.  We had some icecream and enjoyed the fireworks on the beach!  It rained most of the day, but we just embraced it and had a great time.  Missions conference was last weekend.  Todd Ahrend spoke and really opened our eyes to God’s heart for the ALL the nations.  He explained that from Genesis to Revelation God tells us about how he desires every tribe, every people group, every nation, and ever language to know His name.  He gave us really applicable ways to reach the nations by becoming World Christians.  We can PRAY for the nations and missionaries, SEND financial support, WELCOME internationals that are living around us, MOBILIZE others to gain a heart for the nations as well, and we can GO ourselves.  We learned a lot about THUMB.  This is an acronym for the major world religions who live in places that have little or no access to the gospel.  These are Tribal, Hinduism, Chinese, Muslim, and Buddhist.

Yesterday at church a children’s choir from Kenya came and worshipped with us.  They explained that they didn’t have much in the village they live in, but they had so much hope in Jesus Christ.  It was so refreshing seeing them and their inexpressible joy when they danced and sang.  Afterwards they ran up to us giving us huge hugs filled with so much love!

One day last week, Kara texted me at 6 in the morning asking if we could get together at 8:30 to talk about the book of John.  She is earnestly desiring to know God and His Word.  It’s super neat, because she’s asking so many questions not only for her own good, but also so that she can share all of the things she is learning with her friends who need Jesus!  It’s so encouraging to know that her growth doesn’t stop when we leave Destin, and neither does the expansion of the gospel!

Rosa, my co-worker from Panera, has put her trust in Christ!  As she is opening the Bible for the first time, she is being blown away by God’s sacrifices and promises He has for her.  Because of these, she is wanting to become completely obedient to Him.  She has invited her sister Martina along with her to Stumo and to meet up to study the Bible.  Now Martina has decided to follow Jesus!  Martina and Rosa are super willing to meet up ANY time that we all have free.  They desire to learn more and more.  I know this because everytime I say anything they respond with another question! Ha.  Martina is inviting 4 of her friends to Stumo this week who don’t have Jesus as their Lord.  These girls are truly filled with the boldness that comes from knowing and loving Christ.

We have a little less than 2 weeks left.  That leaves one more week of work, and one week of learning how to apply everything we’ve learned for campus in the Fall.  This summer is FLYING by.

Things you can pray for:

- That our hearts can continue to be saddened and broken for people who haven’t heard or have rejected the gospel.

- Rosa, Kara, and Martina to continue falling in love with Jesus

- For Morgan, Colby, Kelsey and me.  That we won’t coast the rest of the summer.  But instead, continue to allow God’s Word to challenge and change us.

You guys are SO WONDERFUL!

Here are some pics..

”..that we should be called children of God!”

My Team!  I’m on a d-group leader team of 6 girls including my leader.  These godly women have been the biggest encouragement to me this summer.  As leaders, we meet for hours every Tuesday to pray, hold each other accountable, fine tune our Bible Studies and plan 1 to 1s with our girls.  I’ve learned so much from studying the word with these ladies.  The wisdom they have to offer is unreal.  They’re really showing me what love is.  And it’s beautiful.

Every Sunday we head out to the beaches and share the gospel through a diagram called “The Bridge.”  Kari is a participant here at Kaleo from UCA.  We went out to share together two Sundays ago, where we met Kara.  We had the opportunity to have a great conversation with her, and she chose to make Jesus the Lord of her life!  She said that she has really been wanting to know about Jesus and how to follow him, but no one would show her how.  She came with us to Stumo the next Thursday(our weekly meeting where we gather together to worship).  There we learned about knowing God through His Word.  Now Kari, Kara and I are meeting weekly to go through the gospel of John. She has almost read it through twice within a week because she’s so excited!  Legit.   Through this we’ll get to learn about the life of Jesus and the salvation his sacrifice brings.  Kari and I are getting to see the power of the gospel working right before our eyes.  Through Kara’s decision to place her trust in Christ, and the Spirit’s work in her heart, she is a new creation.  Praise our Father.

Kelsey, Cobly and Morgan are stiiilllll wonderful.  It’s about that time in the summer when the participants begin learning to lead the Bible and book studies.  This is an incredible challenge that will help equip them to lead when we all go back to campus in the fall. Which is so exciting!  They are all building incredible relationships at their jobs.  Through these relationships, the gospel is being shared and Christ’s love exposed.  He is doing big things in many many hearts.

The oil. Tropical Storms.  They are here.  But no worries!

Prayer points:

1. That we can continually deepen our desire to Know God and make Him known through intentionally sharing the gospel.

2.That we can be faithful in meeting with Kara and showing her an immense amount of love.  That when we leave she will have convictions to keep growing and telling others about Christ. Praise God for her salvation!

3. We only have 3 and a half more weeks!  Pray we can be super intentional in finishing strong.

4.  Praise God for who He is, and pray that He keeps doin His thing in the hearts of everyone here at Kaleo!  :)

I love and miss you all.  Let me know how you are and if I can pray for you in any way!

So.  I feel like nothing we do is what you’d really call… normal, as you can see from the picture. BUT we have so much fun!  Colby, Morgan, Kelsey and I are growing closer and closer each day here in Florida.  We are going through 1 Peter and the book, “The Masterplan of Evangelism.”  As we learn how to meditate on and study the Word, God is being revealed to us in GINORMOUS ways.  We are learning more about God’s heart for ALL the World.  And also His desire for us to know, love, and become more like His precious son, Jesus.
In case you were wondering, we will not shorten or stop Kaleo this summer due to the oil.  My girls and I spent last weekend in Pensacola.  We searched and searched for tar, and all we could spot were little balls tangled up in some seaweed.  There was a concern for lost jobs here, but almost 100% of the project here is still employed.  Woo!
Speaking of jobs, Panera is wonderful.  I have been given the incredible opportunity to get to know a young girl named Rosa.  I just adore her gentle heart.  As we are becomming better friends, she is wanting to know more about why we are spending our summer here in Destin.  So our first date is Saturday!  After work, we are getting chocolate chip waffles at Waffle House!  (The one I cooked at last summer.)  This will be a perfect time to share with her the loving sacrifice of Christ for our sins.  Sooo…
Things you can be praying…
1.  For the Gospel of Christ to be presented to Rosa continuously and in the clearest way.  That she would genuinely place her trust in Christ, making him Lord of her life.
2.  That I can learn how to better love and serve Colby, Kelsey, and Morgan.  To completely rely on God’s strength and power, rather than my own, to transform their hearts daily.
3. For the participants and leaders here at Kaleo.. that we would ALL gain the desire to share the gospel fearlessly and to make disciples for the rest of our lives.  That we will make lifetime changes, because it is Christ’s love that is compelling us.
Thank you!!!!!!
I.Love.You.All.
So much.

THEY ARE HERE!
From left to right:  Morgan, Colby, Kelsey and me.  These are the girls I get to live with, love on, and disciple all summer long here in Destin!  Last night was our first Bible Study night.  We spent hours laughing, learning, and growing together.  They are all so wonderful in their own unique way.  Each one of them has an incredible desire to grow in their relationship with Christ and they ALL want to show others how to grow as well.  Praise God for such a beautiful thing.  I’m so blessed to be living with each one of them.
All of us have jobs. Great jobs at that!  My first day of training at Panera Bread was today.  My co-workers are the sweetest people you’ll ever meet.  I’m super excited to get to know them.  Everyone treats each other like a loving family, so God will have tons of opportunities to work in their lives through our relationships.  And Bonus! Panera is one of my favorite places to eat.  I .. sort of get to eat a lot of things for super cheap. So I guess that means I’ll be growing in self-discipline a ton this summer to keep myself from eating all the delicious bagels and pastries! If I don’t, I’m going to turn into a big ball of sugar yeast bread.. stuff.  Just kidding, but God is great. He is supplying my daily bread :) Also, Panera is only 2 miles from my front door, so I get to ride scoot (my bike) there and back!
Things you can be praying for:
1. That God will CONTINUOUSLY and DRASTICALLY be transforming the hearts of my girls and myself, so that we can bring him glory and honor in everything we think, say and do.
2. That we will all be meeting with Jesus consistently each day, growing in our relationship with him.  Pray for our motives through 2 Corinthians 5:14, that it is Christ’s love that compels us to do these things.
2. That we can be effective in our work-places as we build relationships and trust with our co-workers, so that we can boldly share the gospel with them and they can come to know and love Christ.
3. For God to be moving in Big and Impossible ways within our hearts, in this state, in this nation, and in the WORLD.  Through this project.
You all are so incredible.

WE’VE ARRIVED!  Rachel, Natalie and I were all in a Discipleship group last summer at Kaleo and have all come back for a second round.  I’m so excited to be here in Florida and can’t wait for the girls in my group to be here in 2 Days!  God is going to be doing some incredible things in the lives of these girls and in me as well.  We’re just getting started and He’s already taught me so much about servant leadership and reliance on Him.  It’s just been confirmed that I will be working at Panera Bread.  This will be a great opportunity to build relationships with my co-workers and to share Christ with them.
Here are some things you can be praying for:
That I can depend completely on the Spirit to work in and among our hearts as we are falling more in love with Christ.
That I can serve and lead Colby, Kelsey, and Morgan (the girls in my group) in the most loving way, so that they may see Christ and seek him whole-heartedly.
For Salvations as we are sharing the gospel on the beaches and in our work places.
That Christ’s love compels us in everything we do.
Love you guys!  And can’t thank you enough for all of your support and prayers.  I wouldn’t be here without you. Really.
